Arts Charlotte
Arts Charlotte (A.C.) was a non-profit started in 2015 for the expressed purpose of encourage existing and emerging artists. Leigh was one of the co-founders along with Dianne Collard who went on to lead Arts Charlotte as the Executive Director. Arts Charlotte formed out of a “chance” meeting between Leigh and Dianne as they waited in line for the closing banquet at the International Arts Movement’s (IAM) New York City symposium. As they chatted, they soon learned they both were from Charlotte and had a heart for encouraging artists.
Over its 5-year history (closing down during COVID) Arts Charlotte hosted and participated in a number of events in support of the arts and artists with Leigh taking the lead and becoming the spokesperson for the visual arts. Leigh was instrumental in speaking at Movement Day Charlotte, interacting with City officials, coordinating art exhibits, and facilitating workshops and regular meetings. The Arts Charlotte team had a direct hand in promoting the arts and encouraging artists in the Charlotte area.
